Martial Arts in TampaOur daughter's past activities include soccer, dancing, gymnastics and piano among others. We wanted to be part of her experiences but instead we had to sit and wait for her. Finding an activity that matched our fitness needs, schedules and family style was difficult until we tried the family classes at IMA.

It has been one full year since we started IMA and the improvement in our health, fitness and family bonding are noticed by friends and family around us. IMA has been crutial in helping us have a combined weight loss of 90 pounds! We now have a common passion for Tae Kwon Do which has given us the opportunity to train together, to encourage and lead each other towards excellence, and have a good topic of conversation at the dinner table.

The Petrovs' high standards of service and dedication to the martial arts are 100% inline with our family values. IMA has created a venue for our daugther to see her parents practice what they preach: respect, integrity, perseverance and self control among other important values that we feel are lacking today in other sports. Mr. Petrov's character is demostrated in his desire to help each person in the class. He has gone above and beyond to train my husband when a difficult work schedule did not permit my husband to attend regular classes.

Training at IMA is no longer an activity or exercise; it is part of our lifestyles.

*Sidenote - The Kenner Family have now earned their First Degree Blackbelts !!

We just wanted to say THANK YOU for such a great party! The kids had an absolute blast. Luis’ mom called (the boy that we took home) and said that Luis couldn’t stop talking about the party and that he HAS to have his next birthday party there.

Mikaela is also saying that she wants her 7th birthday party there! Again, thank you very much!

Martial Arts in Tampa FLGetting involved in martial arts at Westchase IMA has been one of the best things I have ever done. The reasons are many. First of all, as someone who never really got into exercise, I can say that this is the first physical activity that I truly enjoy. The classes give you a great workout, but since you are also concentrating on learning, it goes by before you know it.

Because of the great workout, my strength has improved, my endurance has improved, and I’ve done a better job of controlling my weight. Also, as a diabetic, the regular exercise helps control my blood sugar.

But the best thing about studying martial arts at IMA is that it is something that the whole family can do. I started out with my daughter several years ago and she and I just earned our second degree black belts!!. My son joined us once he was old enough and will earn his black belt soon. Even my wife comes in for some self defense classes. The studio is one of the best that I’ve seen, and the instruction is top notch. Mr. Petrov gets you working hard, but makes it fun. I look forward to going to classes.

Taekwondo in Tampa, Westchase areaI have been working out on a regular basis for over 15 years; weight lifting, running and swimming. Four months ago our family started the program at IMA. The results have been nothing but positive. I discovered a new level of fitness and lost 8 pounds in less than 3 months. My wife can't believe the changes in her physical appearance as well, not to mention the fun we all have in a clean and friendly environment. Most important, our two daughters are having a blast.

Our 5 year old had a rough start in kindergarten. She did not like going to school and resented her teacher's authority. Mr. Petrov makes it a point in instilling the tenets of martial arts, especially the respect students need to develop towards their parents and teachers. Alessandra now loves going to school and coming to IMA.

I strongly believe her changes are the result of Mr. Petrov's teaching not just technique but a way of life to our kids. Thank you for your help. We all know how important it is for parents to find positive influences in our children's lives.

Westchase IMA has changed who I am. Before starting classes here I did not have much energy to do things. I passed by the studio on my way home a few times and decided to stop in and get some information on the classes they offered. With the one on one intro to the class I was able to see that Mr.Petrov was a great instructor and really cared about the students.

In the begining I was tired and out of breath by the end of class, and not too confident on what I was doing. As time went on my fitness level went up and I was no longer ready to drop when class was over. I have more confidence in what I am doing now, and not just in Taekwando but in the things I do in every day life.

It has only been a few months but I love this class! Mr. Petrov is not some one who is just going to take your money and toss you in to class and see if you can swim. He takes the time to get to know his students and their abilities, and if you need help or he sees something that could be better or tweaked to improve on what you are doing, he is right there to help out.

You dont have to worry if you don't get things right away. I was in poor health when I started this class and now I feel better then I ever have, have lost weight and toned up a bit and have a lot more energy. His class does not seem like it is exercise because he makes it fun. His classes are a great work out no matter what shape you are in.

So me stoping by just to look turned out to be one of the best decisions that I have ever made.
